Ely Rangers A.F.C., known as The Griffins, is a grassroots football club based in Cardiff, Wales. Founded in 1965, they play at Station Road in Wenvoe and wear blue and black. The club has a rich history in local leagues, with past success in the Cardiff Combination and South Wales Amateur Leagues, and a stint in the Welsh Football League after promotion in 1997. Today, they compete in the South Wales Alliance League and run a thriving youth program with over 400 players. In 2024, they won the W John Owen Cup, cementing their status as a proud community-focused club.

I had the opportunity to photograph Ely Rangers during their cup final—a match filled with intensity, passion, and raw emotion. From the first whistle, I focused on capturing the energy of the players, the tension on the sidelines, and the electric atmosphere in the stands. Every tackle, goal celebration, and moment of grit told a story, and I aimed to freeze those fleeting seconds in time. As Ely Rangers fought hard for victory, I moved along the touchline, framing the action and reactions that defined the match. I was there to document the joy, pride, and unity of a club that means so much to its community.
